Payne's Creek Campground is another beautiful lake side campground operated by the US Army Corp of Engineers.

Located on the banks of the nearly 56,000 acre Hartwell Lake, and right at the South Carolina and Georgia border, the campground is situated very close to Interstate 85 but remains very remote.

As with many other US Army Corp of Engineer campgrounds, Payne's Creek Campground is an ideal destination for the avid fisherman. Stocked with bass, stripers, walleye, crappie and catfish. There is something for everyone at Hartwell Lake. With a boat ramp right on the premises there will be no reason for you to leave the campground once you arrive.

There are no designated tent only sites, but there is a nearby primitive campsite available to the tent only campers.
